Universal Year of 1 – Numerology Tarot Spread

As a tarot reader and numerologist, I’ve discovered that the two systems go really well together and I like to combine them in my readings when I can. When it comes to numerology, there’s not much guesswork involved, certain attributes are assigned to certain numbers, and the calculations are usually pretty straightforward – 1 plus 1 always equals 2, and I’ve found it to be one of the most accurate divination systems. I try my best to pay attention to the numbers and work with them as much as I can, so knowing that the upcoming year of 2017 is a Universal Year of 1, I’ve created this tarot spread specifically for guidance in working with the energies of the number 1.

The number 1 represents leadership, being a pioneer, creating or initiating new things, achieving goals, and being the best at what you do. In numerology, those with the Life Path Number 1 are great leaders and pioneers, and aren’t afraid of trying new things and going where no one else have gone before. They are driven, motivated, and determined to achieve their goals, and they always strive to be the best in their fields. They inspire others with their leadership qualities and forward-thinking attitudes. They don’t give up easily, and they tend to push themselves as far as they can go. They can sometimes be a little hard on themselves, so they must learn to be gentle on themselves and forgive their own perceived shortcomings.

The Universal Year of 1 is one of the best years to work with for achieving your goals and becoming recognized in your field. It’s also a great time for new beginnings, starting new projects and businesses, and trying new things. In creating this spread, I wanted to focus on your goals and how you can achieve them, and also the areas you should push yourself in vs. being gentle with yourself, how you can inspire others, and new beginnings to look forward to.

MY PERSONAL READING

1. What goals should I focus on for this year of 1?

9 of Swords

Well, okay, so I should probably be trying to get more sleep in 2017 and cultivating good sleeping habits. I certainly didn’t for 2016 and I’ve been feeling it a lot lately. I was going to talk about other possible interpretations for the 9 of Swords, like being creative and making a difference, sharing knowledge with others, etc., which are important goals to me too, but thinking about it, I feel like the most important thing for me is getting enough sleep because without that, I’m not operating at my best and am not as productive as I can be. So sure, I’ll work on all the other goals, but the one I’d like to prioritize is getting enough sleep.

2. How do I achieve my goals?

10 of Swords

Making sure that I finish my projects. I was recently given the advice about how finished is better than perfect, so looking at this card, I’m thinking that I’m not going to make excuses anymore about how any particular project isn’t perfectly the way I want it, and end up putting it aside. I’m going to finish those projects and worry about finesse later. Get them done no matter what it takes!

3. What are my greatest strengths?

The High Priestess – 2

I love that this card represents my strengths! Intuition, spiritual connection, mystical and esoteric knowledge, bridging different planes of consciousness… I do feel like I have a lot to share in regards to these topics, and obviously doing what I do, these topics are a big part of my plans for 2017!

4. How can I leverage on them?

Knight of Pentacles

Slow and steady wins the race. Sometimes I overwhelm myself with ideas and projects and that’s part of the reason I don’t finish many of them; because the more I feel I have to do, the more I feel like I should rush them, and the more I end up not finishing anything. I remember reading somewhere that sometimes you gotta slow down to get things done, and that’s how I’ve been feeling about my projects. Slow down and enjoy the journey, I’ll end up seeing and discovering more as I go, adding to my strengths and knowledge.

5. In which area should I push myself?

The World – 21

Whoa! Lol, obviously not everything in the world, but perhaps every aspect of my life that is relevant to what I want to achieve. Tall order, but I can certainly try, and I know that I can always do better.

6. In which area should I be gentle with myself?

Temperance – 14

In pushing myself in every aspect of my life, I believe it’s important to be gentle with myself when finding a balance between all those aspects; work, life, health, sleep, goals, leisure activities, family, and friends… I still have to remember that I’m only human and I can’t do everything. Getting enough rest and making sure that I take care of my health is still a priority for me.

7. How do I inspire others?

9 of Cups

I love this! The 9 of Cups has always been about personal happiness to me. It represents the “greatest love of all”, loving yourself for everything you are, flaws and all. Some of the most important things I believe in teaching and empowering others about are self-love and acceptance, believing in yourself, doing what makes you happy – not what others expect of you, and this card is just perfect as the answer to this question.

8. What new beginnings can I look forward to?

The Hierophant – 5

Interestingly enough, I recently signed up for a year-long spiritual course for 2017. The course focuses on topics that at present seems unrelated to divination, many of the topics I’m unfamiliar with, so they are definitely new to me. However, I believe that this course will help me to develop myself personally and spiritually, and this in turn will help me be a better spiritual coach and teacher.

Some of the answers for this spread surprised me, but upon thinking about them more, they really made sense for me for the year 2017. I have also tried this spread on a couple of my friends, and their feedback have been wonderful too. It seems to have helped all of us in planning on our focus for the coming year. I hope you enjoy this spread and that it helps you with your focus for 2017 too.
